Why is eating low Glycaemic Load foods beneficial for weight loss?
The glycaemic load is about how fast the carbohydrate in a food is broken down and enters your blood stream. The aim is to eat foods which take some time to break down and do not enter the blood stream quickly. Foods with a low glycemic loading are better in this respect. Unrefined foods, such as unhulled oats, wheat and rye and most vegetables have a very low glycaemic loading. Proteins, such as meat, fish and beans also are low glycemic rated. All refined foods have a high loading and lower the body’s ability to break down fat cells.
